The European EMAS Award is the most prestigious award in environmental management and has been handed to top companies and public authorities since 2005. The Directorate General Environment of the European Commission will announce the winners of the 2011 European EMAS Awards on 17th November 2011 in the ancient and beautiful Wieliczka Salt Mine, located near Cracow, Poland.
The theme of the 2011 EMAS Awards is: “Stakeholder involvement, including employee involvement, leading to continuous improvement”. Stakeholder involvement focuses on those interests and actors who affect or, in turn, are affected by the organisation. Because stakeholder relationships are complex and involve many actors, this can be a very demanding task EMAS provides registered organisations with tools to master this challenge
This year, 34 organisations were nominated, including the Central Balkan National Park Directorate (cluster focus of this month) and the NGO Time foundation.
